Story I Received in an Email

In a small mid western conservative town, a new bar/tavern started a
building to open up their business. The local Baptist church started a
campaign to block the bar from opening with petitions and prayers. Work
progressed, however right up till the week before opening, when a
lightning strike hit the bar and it burned to the ground.

The church folks were rather smug in their outlook after that, till the
Bar owner sued the church on the grounds that the church was ultimately
responsible for the demise of his building, either through direct or
indirect actions or means.

The church vehemently denied all responsibility or any connection to the
buildings demise in its reply to the court.

As the case made it's way into court, the judge looked over the
Paperwork at the hearing and commented, "I don't know how I'm going to
decide this, but as it appears from the paper work, we have a bar owner that
believes in the power of prayer, and an entire church congregation that doesn't.

You wouldn't happen to have a link to that article online would you?

No I cannot say that I do. It was just sent to me in an email. Plain o' copy and paste. Feel free to rip it though. Use it how you like.
It is one of those stories that will be used as others see it(fiction or not). I see it as Christians needing to realize that prayers are serious. Others may see it as doubt. Which it may be a little of both. Wish I could help you more.

Well if it turned up online as a credible story I might do something with it but as just an urban legend I won't.

The way I see the story is a poor bar owner who has suffered harassment from a local church group finally sees a way to turn his tragedy into a bit of payback by forcing them to go on the record to either deny their prayers had anything to do with the lightning or that the idea of a god striking a bar down is ridiculous.

If true, it's the funniest thing I've read in a long time. I'll have to check Snopes.

I checked Snopes, and can find nothing about the story. I did find the story cited here, but that's just someone's unverified post. I see it mentioned on other blogs, but that's relatively worthless, without some sort of attribution.

They say on The Atheist Network Forum that it's an old joke.

My experience in this sphere is quite middle. But I worked with like problems some time ago. And I tried nearly the dozen of tools, but only one of them effectively relieved me. Perhaps it will be helpful in this problem - pst data viewing.
